J R LANKFORD
J R LANKFORD
In the 1990’s I, J R Lankford, quit my former job -- which involved jetting around the world to oversee the development of world standards for electrical products (my husband teasingly called me the “Secretary General of oven controls”) -- to pursue a childhood dream of writing novels. Perhaps I wasn’t of sound mind at the time. Who quits a job that lets you work in London, Paris, and Geneva, in favor of sitting alone in a room and scribbling? Well, me, and I’ve never regretted it. Novels fulfill me in a way the world can’t. I fall in love with the outrageous, courageous, cowardly, dangerous, unscrupulous, seductive and perfectly heroic characters in my mind and can’t resist bringing them to life in words. If you’d like to know more, here’s “How I Became a World Citizen (A True Confession)”
favorite quote
“You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait. Do not even wait, be still and quite solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet."
